So as I mentioned about a week ago, my little peanut and I are going to try to focus on one letter each week by doing different activities. She already knows how to sing her alphabet song but I think this is great prep for her school days to come:)
This week we focused on the letter "A". She is currently 23 months old. Here are some of the things we did during the week which helped us to learn about the letter A.
My little peanut got a new easel for Christmas (thanks Brooke and Tyler), so I made a print out of the letter of the week to hang up. We found the matching magnet and stuck it up too.
We also did a ton of coloring for our binder.
Each week I will put all of the pages/crafts that we did into sheet protectors and into a binder. I leave it out so that my little peanut can look thru it whenever she wants to. She REALLY loves it. I often finding her flipping thru the pages and proudly showing just about anyone who comes to visit.
We also decided to take two paper towel rolls and a toilet paper roll and color them. We then made the letter A.
We also took a picture of our apple and spelled out the word with our blocks. By the end of the week she was spelling a-p-p-l-e. At 23 months, I was pretty impressed:)
We did the apple craft that I talked about here.
And made the Apple Tree Felt Board that I talked about here.
Lastly, we also painted with apples! I mixed up some flour, water and food coloring for some homemade paint. First we used green and a brush to make a tree. Then we cut and apple in half and dipped it in the red "paint". This was a fun "messy" activity that I think we both really enjoyed!
In my original post I have the links to some sites where I got ideas and/or print outs for our binder.
I really like the apple tree painting idea - my daughter likes messy! Your daughter did a lot of fun activities this week - she looks so cute colouring in.
