Letter of the Week - M

My little one is 28 months old!

With the nice weather, I am finding it harder to get in our Letter of the Week activities. We usually spend our days outside as much as possible doing things like this.

As such I think we will be taking the summer off from our more structured Letter of the Week activities!

However, since we worked on the letter M for a few weeks (starting with all of our Mother's Day Activities), here are some of the things that we did.

We used the popsicle sticks from our lollipops to make a big letter "M".

We made Macaroni Art - just like Abby did on an episode of Sesame Street we had watched!

I also want to start working on some writing skills with her. So I drew a few big letter M's on a piece of paper. I put a red star where she should start with her pen. She got the hang of this quickly and did pretty good!! I am going to start with her name next and see where that takes us:)

Letter of the week - L (part 2)

Our Letter L activities continued on this week as well (see part 1 here).

My little peanut is 27 months.

One of the first things we did was create out felt board - Lollipops!!

I hot glued pieces of felt to the back of the Popsicle sticks...worked like a charm!

My little one kept asking to do "arts and crafts with you (pointing to me)"...so we each made a lollipop by coloring paper plates. Here is how they turned out.

I also had some fun with her food. I cut her chicken into "L"'s...

We also did lots coloring, tracing and dot painting for our L book.

Letter of the week - L

Our letter of the week? L!!

My little peanut is 27 months old!

We did ALOT of crafts this week. I kinda made the mistake of showing my little one my Letter L Pinterest Board. After that she told me (in which order) all of the L crafts that she wanted to make.

First up...our Ladybug craft.

My little one started out by painting a plate red.

We waited for that to dry and then I cut out black circles. I placed glue dots on the red plate and my little one added the black circles. She did a great job of only placing the black dots on the glue!

Lastly, I added an antenna made of a black pipe cleaner.

Next, we made a Tree with green leaves!

I freehanded a tree on brown construction paper.

My little one then glued this down to a blue piece of construction paper. I cut out a bunch of green leaves and she handled gluing them down on the tree.

Our last craft for this week was a cute little white lamb.

I finally got around to buying cotton balls! Believe it or not, they were hard to find!!

I put glue on the outside of a white paper plate and let her add on the cotton balls.

Once that dried, I added two googly eyes, a cute black nose and two black construction paper ears!

Letter of the week - K (Part 2)

My little peanut is 26 months old!

We finished up our K activities this week! I actually found it easier to spread everything out over the course of 2 weeks. It gave us more time to do some other fun activities (like cutting, playing outside and baking together); that I may actually continue that trend going forward.

We played more then usual with our kitchen set.

We got a new table this week from Ikea (thanks Mom!). For $20 bucks, I highly recommend it! It is perfect for doing art and crafts, eating meals and setting up for a tea party:)

Here we are on the table gluing letter K's.

This is our final product! I could not find too many "K" words/items in the magazines I had around the house. So instead I cut some out of paper and my little one colored them!

Our felt board this week consisted of 5 kites and 5 pieces of yarn (which also sticks to felt in case you were wondering)!

She loved it and just got annoyed placing the yarn on the kites. But I think it was good for her fine motor skills...

I also added a piece of contact paper (sticky side out) onto our easel. I then cut out some K's from construction paper and had my little one add them to the easel. She really liked doing this a few weeks ago and was excited I did this again for her!

I also made a big "K" on a piece of paper for her to color...

...but she preferred to tape it to the window and color that way:)

That pretty much sums up our second K week! Hope everyone has a great week!!

Letter of the week - K

My little peanut is 26 months old.

Unfortunately I did not get to do everything that I had wanted to do this week so this will likely be "Part 1" of K week:) With the beautiful weather we had this weekend, we spent most of it outdoors with family and friends!!

We put up our K sign.

We used our dot paints on our letter K worksheets. She did really well with this - putting the dots on the keys!

We also used our markers to practice writing our letter K.

Hubby brought home some keys (they aren't for anything in our house in case they get lost) and my little peanut loved using them on her car and "locking" our front door. She even carried them around in her pocketbook!

Our craft this week was making a Kite. It just so happened that our On Demand Sesame Street had an episode about Elmo, Zoe and Gaby making kites. My little one was so excited to make one just like they did.

We decided to use the princess stickers the Easter Bunny left.

I cut out a diamond shape from pink paper and my little one decorated.

I then attached a piece of string and we added some purple (her color choice) bows.

Letter of the week - J

My Little Peanut is 26 months old.

For the past two weeks we focused on the letter J (along with doing many Easter activities).

We practiced writing in our notebook inspired by Tot School. She did REALLY well tracing the "J"!

As usual, I turned to Pinterest for J craft ideas!

Here is what we ended up doing.

We flipped thru magazines and pointed out anything that started with a "J" and I cut it out. Since my little one LOVES glue, I cut out a pink J (her color choice) and she glued on each of the pictures.

We also made a fun Jelly Fish by coloring a coffee filter, adding googly eyes and pipe cleaners for tentacles!

One of my little ones favorite activities? Using Jelly Beans!!

I drew a big "J" on construction paper and together we put dots of glue all over. She then placed a jelly bean on each dot....and then ate the left overs (only about three of them)! {Sorry I didn't take a finished product - but will update soon}

Another activity she really enjoyed was something I came up with for the first time this week. I placed contact paper (sticky side out) on our easel. I then cut out 10-15 "J" from various pieces of paper (the thicker the paper, the better).

My little one LOVED sticking them to the contact paper. We used this opportunity to count the J's - by color and total. I am going to definitely carry this forward. She kept going back to the board day after day.

Another activity that my little one really enjoyed over and over - using our homemade play dough and "stamping" the letter J.

Similarly, while we baked for the Easter Bunny, we had some left over dough that we turned into a J.

We also dot painted our J pages and colored a good amount too. She is doing so well trying to stay in the lines and trace her letters. I see improvements each week - love it!
